FABFITFUN FALL BOX HAS ARRIVED: UNBOXING AND COUPON CODE!!!

Published September 25, 2014 by thebeholdingeye

I knew my FabFitFun Fall Edition had shipped 2 days ago…but I wasn’t expecting to see my mail carrier walking by my window with it today. As I scurried from my office to the door, probably looking a fright (but who cares when it comes to delivery of a new subscription box???), I looked at it awe and amazement. Now, all things being equal and me keeping it real for my readers, I found the Summer Edition box a total snoozefest, with a couple of exceptions (the Sonya Dakar Flash Facial being my primary reason for purchasing that box). Grabbing a knife from the kitchen with the dexterity of a potential horror movie victim, I hurried back into my bedroom to see what possible wonders the Fall Edition held.

Here it is, in all of its wonder and glory. It’s packaged quite lovely, as usual…and I can’t wait to get beyond that pristine white tissue paper to see what lies beneath!

<img src="http:// photo 20140925_084810_zps1e3eb842.jpg” alt=”” />

Now let’s get that pesky tissue paper out of the way and see those much-anticipated contents:

<img src=" photo 20140925_085532_zps4537831e.jpg” alt=”” />

And there it is, just begging to be dug into…

Okay, first let’s get to the 2 items we had spoilers for. First is that A-MAZING Jessica Steele Apron. While I didn’t get the pink and gold I had hoped for, this adorable cream and black polka dot number works for me…Love it! I didn’t unwrap it as I’m saving it to wear for the upcoming holiday meal preparation.

<img src=" photo 20140925_085833_zps7379be68.jpg” alt=”” />
(Retail Value $32)
Now moving on to the “spoiler” item #2, the full-sized Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Booster. I love all things Dermalogica. Great brand and this alone has a retail value higher than the cost of this box of awesomeness.

<img src=" photo 20140925_085734_zps6c599b19.jpg” alt=”” />
(Retail Value $56)

Okay, now for the goodies we haven’t had spoilers for. Diving on in…

<img src=" photo 20140925_085712_zpse8e19763.jpg” alt=”” />

Here we have LaNatura Travel Size Body Butter. This is a generous-sized travel sample (however, FFF has been advertising for over a month now about how they’ve done away with all sample sizes, so I find this size included in the box to be interesting). That being said, it sounds amazing, and I love body butters so I’m sure I’ll be using this very soon now that Fall has officially dropped the temperatures substantially.
(Retail Value $18)

<img src=" photo 20140925_085702_zps765d38c1.jpg” alt=”” />

I’m really excited about having this Honest Co. (Jessica Alba’s company) Hydrating Shea Butter Cleansing Bar in this box. I’ve been hearing really positive reviews about Honest Co.’s products so I really appreciate the chance to try one of them before buying. So far you’re knocking it out of the park, FFF!
(Retail Value $4.95)

<img src=" photo 20140925_085723_zps6cf9d4c8.jpg” alt=”” />

ADORBS!!!!!! Okay, now I’m starting to do a little happy dance. Here we have a pair of Great Soles Pink Ribbon Ballet Barre Ped workout socks. CUTEST. BOOTIES. EVER. Woohoo…Oh, but these are almost too cute to wear. ALMOST.
(Retail Value $12)

<img src=" photo 20140925_085747_zps35265e8b.jpg” alt=”” />

Well, here’s a lovely colored lip gloss just in time for Fall. This is the Beauty for Real True Color Lip Cream in “Always There.” It also comes with an LED light and a mirror…Nice touches! This will definitely be put to good use and, being a lip gloss addict, this is definitely a hit with me.
(Retail Value $22)

<img src=" photo 20140925_085757_zps75629be2.jpg” alt=”” />

A must-have for every season, next is a full-sized CHI 44 Iron Guard thermal protection spray. This will go lovely with my ridiculously cute pink zebra print CHI straightening iron. Great product to include, FFF!
(Retail Value $14.50)

<img src=" photo 20140925_085924_zps00f8f943.jpg” alt=”” />

Wow, this is total awesomeness. By Gramr Gratitude Co., it’s a lovely and classy thank you card set, complete with sealing wax and wax press. This is a gorgeous set and absolutely perfect with the Thanksgiving holiday right around the corner. Gorgeous, simply gorgeous.
(Retail Value $43)

<img src=" photo 20140925_085820_zpsc9dc699b.jpg” alt=”” />

And a couple of food-related items, which FFF always throws in. This time it’s a Numi Organic Tea and a Mary’s Gone Crackers organic chipotle tomato pretzels. Yeah, let’s be honest…these 2 goodies won’t make it through the day. My stomach is already rumbling just looking at those pretzel sticks.
(Retail Value 0 – sponsored items)

<img src=" photo 20140925_090133_zps67d29fd0.jpg” alt=”” />

Also included is a 25% off coupon for the first purchase with The Honest Co. If you’d like to use this, it looks like it’s meant for sharing. Just proceed to checkout and enter HONESTLYFAB to save 25% on your purchase.

<img src=" photo 20140925_090143_zps6e10d852.jpg” alt=”” />

And they’ve also included a free 3-month trial to FitFusion Digital Subscription. Eh, here at Casa Beholding Eye, this probably will be of no use but if you, my lovely reader, would like to take advantage of it, enter code ffftrial to give it a try for 3 months.

And there we have it. The FabFitFun Fall 2014 Edition, all unboxed. First of all, I’m really pleased with this box and the variety of contents. I’m also delighted with the superfast shipping. To my estimation, the retail value of this box is in the area of $233 for which I paid about $54, including tax and shipping. All in all, a great deal with products I absolutely love (well, except maybe that 3-month subscription to FitFusion but, hey, I’m sure a lot of subscribers will love it!).

If you’d like to order this box for yourself, they are still available. Here’s my referral link:

ALLURE SAMPLE SOCIETY/BEAUTY BAR: OCTOBER 2014 UNBOXING SNEAK PEEKS AND COUPON CODES!

Published September 23, 2014 by thebeholdingeye

I’ve been sitting on the fence about signing up for this box. Some months it appears to really knock it out of the proverbial park…other months, not so much. While I continue this great mental debate with myself (and it gets pretty heated up there in my work-addled brain with these debates going on, that’s for sure), I decided to share a couple of spoilers of which I’ve become aware and a coupon code so those of you sitting on that fence with me debating subscribing might decide to take the Allure Sample Society/Beauty Bar leap.

Here’s sneak peak #1:

<img src=" photo 10669987_746502625385347_3736602940303571081_n_zps55ffd389.jpg” alt=”” />

An apparently deluxe travel-sized Bobbi Brown Smoky Eye Mascara in Black. I’ve got tons of mascaras so this isn’t really making me snatch up my debit card and take the plunge.

Here’s sneak peek #2:

<img src="http:// photo sssneakpeak1_zpse45f39d8.jpg” alt=”” />

It’s a deluxe trial size of Estee Lauder Enlighten Dark Spot Correcting Serum. Pretty sure I could score this for free from my local Estee Lauder cosmetics department. Still not really giddy with anticipation over this sneak peek, either.

So, there I sit, my lovely readers. Still perched on the Allure Sample Society/Beauty Bar fence with a foot on each side debating on taking the plunge.

Personally, I think I’m going to wait for another sneak peek that might persuade me to whip out that trusty debit card and give it a go.

But, just in case you, my lovely, would like to hop on the YES side of the fence, here’s a little $5 off coupon code for you to enjoy:

<img src=" photo 10649706_743951812307095_3180612663532071269_n_zpsdc104efb.jpg” alt=”” />

COUPON CODE: 5FORYOU

And that’s it for now…Be sure to subscribe for updates on the big October GIVEAWAY right here on this blog, as well as reviews of the September Glossybox and others that come rolling in.

WALMART BEAUTY BOX: AND IT’S FREE!!!

Published September 23, 2014 by thebeholdingeye

Well, imagine my surprise when I found out that not only does Walmart have a beauty box, but that that it’s FREE. Yes, FREE. For $5 postage, I wasn’t expecting much in return, maybe a few foil packets but, hey, what’s $5, relatively speaking? I signed up immediately, of course. Free is always too good to pass up.

The Walmart Beauty Boxes come out every quarter. Once you sign up (which was amazingly simple and pain-free), you start receiving a box every quarter. I would assume by receiving my box in late September that I received a Fall box.

My shipping information on my account never updated to “shipped” but showed “in process” the entire time (although I had been billed). Well, last night the little box of gems showed up in my mailbox, nicely wrapped in a small but very sturdy box.

<img src="http:// photo 20140923_080221_zpsrrml0ynk.jpg” alt=”” />

Opening up the box, it looks pretty much like any other subscription box, with an inscription on the top of the box and a layer of tissue paper between my prying eyes and the goodies therein.

<img src="http:// photo 20140923_080244_zpsuhmydbcr.jpg” alt=”” />

Now let’s get that pesky tissue paper out of the way and get to the important stuff…THE CONTENTS. Let’s see what our $5 postage netted us in return.

<img src="http:// photo 20140923_080258_zpssvvmorpf.jpg” alt=”” />

Well, my oh my…This doesn’t look too bad at all. There are quite a few little goodies in here to sort through. Let’s pick a product and take a closer look.

<img src="http:// photo 20140923_080330_zpsang4tedc.jpg” alt=”” />

Olay Microsculpting Cream? Really? In a FREE box? And it’s a very decent 0.5 ounce sample size, packaged just like the full-size version of this product is. A quick check with my BFF Google tells me a full-size 1.7 ounce of this at Walmart is $23.94, which means this little beauty has a value of about $8. Okay, so this one sample is worth more than cost of the postage I paid. It’s all cake from here forward.

<img src=" photo 20140923_080343_zpsbzzpvu1o.jpg” alt=”” />

L’Oreal Revitalift Triple Power Deep Acting Moisturizer is the next product I pull out. It’s in a really heavy glass jar, another 0.5 ounce sample size. Google informs me a full size of this product (1.7 ounces) sells for $19.97 at Walmart, so this little beauty is worth a little over $6. Total value so far is around $14 and there are still plenty of goodies taunting me in this box.

<img src="http:// photo 20140923_080419_zpseaslysly.jpg” alt=”” />

Next up is a sample vial of Couture Couture by Juicy Couture. Imagine my surprise. I didn’t even know Walmart sold Juicy Couture fragrances. Great fragrance that I hadn’t sampled before, so I was delighted to get this.

<img src="http:// photo 20140923_080436_zps0d9vyanh.jpg” alt=”” />

Okay, color me surprised…or color me Vintage Wine, I should say, as least my lips. Here’s a full-size Cover Girl Continuous Color lipstick. Although I couldn’t find this particular color on the Walmart website, I did note that this product sells for $4.94. So far the value of this box is adding up quite nicely…Moving right along.

<img src="http:// photo 20140923_080514_zpsxoxdvmoq.jpg” alt=”” />

Well, here’s the big ticket item for me in this box…A full-sized Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant. Secret is the only brand I buy and I haven’t yet tried the clinical strength, so this is really a welcome addition to the box. Bonus points for this being the clear gel formula…no pesky white marks. This baby sells for $7.92 at Walmart. To quote Charlie Sheen, WINNING!!!

<img src=" photo 20140923_080544_zpsmk7obtck.jpg” alt=”” />

Next is a foil packet sampler of Clear Hair and Scalp Therapy, the damaged hair version. I had actually gotten samples of this about a year ago and, as I recall, I loved it, the way it worked and the way it smelled. Now I’m wondering why I never remembered to actually buy it. Perhaps these samples will refresh my memory as well as my hair.

<img src="http:// photo 20140923_080643_zpsjlz1uohb.jpg” alt=”” />

And there it is. The Walmart Beauty Box Fall edition, with a retail value of around $27 for FREE, just $5 shipping and handling.

Was it a deal? You betcha. Heck, the deodorant alone is worth more than the cost of the postage and to get all of those other goodies along with it? Icing on that proverbial cake.

Here is the link to get you started if you’d like to grab one of these boxes for yourself. I’m really glad I did!

FABFITFUN FALL SNEAK PEEKS AND COUPON CODES…AND GIVEAWAY!!!

Published September 22, 2014 by thebeholdingeye

Happy Monday from Casa Beholding Eye. Yes, Mondays pretty much suck in general, but this week is when the Fall FabFitFun boxes begin shipping so that’s giving me a reason to perk up a bit with my coffee this morning.

FabFitFun is a quarterly subscription that normally runs about $49, but coupons are usually easily found to save up to $15 on your purchase. They’ve released 2 spoilers for the Fall box, and both of them were enough to make me squeal and do the happy dance (because I’m a freak like that).

Here are 2 sneak peeks of what we subscribers have been treated to so far. Each item separately would cost more than the cost of the subscription box, and I believe it will have an additional at least FIVE full-sized items. I’m kind of hoping for one of those amazing scarves such as those given out by Pop Sugar but we’ll see what’s in the Fall box hopefully by the end of this week.

Here’s the first sneak peek and it won me over as soon as I saw it (I also love to cook so this really made me clap my hands and do a little dance):

<img src="FFF Fall 2014 photo fff_zps008e8315.png” alt=”” />

I think these are just adorable and totally retro chic…I’m crossing my fingers for the pink and gold one, but in reality they’re all adorable and I’ll be happy with whatever one ends up in my box. What a novel item to be receiving…Great job, FFF!

The second spoiler is a full-sized product that, again, retails for more than the cost of the subscription box and is from a name I think everyone will recognize, Dermalogica:

<img src=" photo 10703706_10152483608013611_5745483488909287077_n_zps12e92c1c.jpg” alt=”” />

FabFitFun continues to sell boxes until they run out, so it’s definitely not too late to sign up for your Fall box. Shipments commence this week, and I’ll be doing an unboxing as soon as it arrives so I can share it with my sister beauty addicts.

Here are some links and referral codes and a $10 OFF COUPON CODE to get you started:

Boxycharm September Unboxing: Let Me Count The Ways…

Published September 20, 2014 by thebeholdingeye

The highlight of my month is when the mail carrier brings my Boxycharm to the door. I subscribe to an array of various subscription boxes, but Boxycharm is just in a league of its own. While I don’t quite understand how they can offer such amazing products at such a low monthly price, I try not to bother myself with that little detail and just savor every single monthly box. This month’s box was exceptionally fantabulous. This blogger was wringing her sweaty little hands in anticipation, stalking the September box’s shipping status practically every hour, and hyperventilating whenever it would move closer to arriving. Sound extreme? Maybe…but one look at the contents below and I’m sure all of my sister beauty addicts will totally understand. Boxycharm isn’t like Christmas every month…It’s more like Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Halloween, and my birthday all packed into one lovely little box.

Let’s jump on in and rip into this baby!

<img src=" photo 20140919_110436_zps8yhoxwed.jpg” alt=”” />

There it is, the contents of the box in all of their much-anticipated glory. My heart starts pounding as I snatch up each product to see what color lip gloss and which amazing palette I’ve received. Exercising a bit of self-control, I begin to explore…

<img src=" photo 20140919_110618_zpsfsuqzxoc.jpg” alt=”” />

First up is a full-sized Tarina Tarantino Fleur de Lash Mascara Limited Edition. Not only do I adore Tarina Tarantino products, the packaging of TT items is always classy and gorgeous, the kind of products that you want to whip out of your makeup bag just to show off how utterly pretty they are. This mascara is no exception. I’ve received a lot of mascaras the past few months in various boxes and individual purchases, so I think I might decide to share the wealth with this beauty and toss it into next month’s GIVEAWAY. Stay tuned for updates on that event…Guaranteed it will be chock full of products every one of my blog subscribers should adore.

<img src=" photo 20140919_110716_zpstwtolkkc.jpg” alt=”” />

Next to make its way into my eager little mitts is this full-sized tarte LipSurgence lip gloss. There were 4 shades being distributed and, although I had my fingers crossed for Park Avenue Princess (a pale nude gloss with subtle gold glimmer), I received Blushing Bride. I’m normally not able to wear a lot of pink shades, but this is a lovely dusky mauve color that luckily works with my skin tone. Item #2 from the box and it just keeps getting better and better. Oh, how I *heart* thee, Boxycharm, and I still have 3 more products with which to count the ways…

<img src=" photo 20140919_110753_zpssvluf6k5.jpg” alt=”” />

Next up is a full-sized Harvey Prince Hello perfume. Now, a couple of months ago I had received a Harvey Prince Hello body lotion in one of my subscriptions, and I was not impressed with the fragrance. In fact, I passed the product to my daughter, who thought it smelled fine. I had my reservations about getting a full-sized perfume in this scent but…”Hello” indeed! This perfume smells absolutely amazing, soft and fruity and delicious, nothing like the body lotion. In fact, I’m so delighted with the fragrance that I’ll likely be purchasing it on my own when this runs out. I’m really finicky about my fragrances, so the fact that I would repurchase this says a great deal about how impressed I am.

<img src="http:// photo 20140919_110917_zpsmhlkiylg.jpg” alt=”” />

The fourth item in the box is a full-sized NCLA Nail Lacquer in Model Behavior. There were 3 shades of polish distributed, and this is precisely the one I was hoping to get. It’s a gorgeous deep purple/gray color that will be absolutely amazing this Fall and Winter. I’ve never seen a color quite like this and can’t wait to give it a try.

<img src=" photo 20140919_111158_zps6tzhf4fi.jpg” alt=”” />

The fifth item in this month’s box is a full-sized Go palette by Coastal Scents. There were 4 different palettes being distributed and I had my little black heart set on either Cairo or Beijing. Imagine this blogger’s delight when I looked at the package and saw I had indeed gotten…CAIRO! Gorgeous colors, great pigment, a great size to throw into your bag for touch ups on the go, complete with a mirror. It just doesn’t get much better than this. I’m looking forward to using these with my new and amazing BH Cosmetics brush set that I blogged about earlier this month.

And, we’re not quite done yet….Boxycharm also put in a couple of pretty handy-dandy discount codes for subscribers this month. Didn’t care for the tarte lip gloss in your box? No problem, here’s 20% off from 10/10 to 10/24 so you can purchase your preferred shade or whatever your beauty-loving little heart desires. I love sharing deals with my readers, so here’s the card with the code for you to take advantage of:

<img src=" photo 20140919_110147_zpszlrxqt3r.jpg” alt=”” />

Just go to http://tartecosmetics.com and enter “FALLBOXY” at checkout and save your 20% on the amazing tarte product(s) of your choice. Bear in mind the dates the coupon is applicable, 10/10/2014 through 10/24/2014. Ready, set, go!!!

And another little discount Boxycharm added this month is for specialty “name” jewelry (think Carrie’s much loved necklace on Sex and the City). I’ve checked out the website for this company and there’s an adorable assortment at pretty good prices, so the 10% off is definitely enticing. Here’s a copy of the card with the coupon code so my readers can redeem if you’d like your own personalized objet d’art:

<img src="http:// photo 20140919_110259_zpsvcdg4hcs.jpg” alt=”” />

Just go to http://www.mynamenecklace.com and enter code BOXYCHARM at checkout to score your purchase and save your 10%. Again, super cute stuff. I fully intend to grab one for myself.

Just to recap, here’s the product descriptor card for this month’s Boxycharm. As is always the case with Boxycharm, all products are full-sized so the retail value reflected on the card is true to the individual products received:

<img src=" photo 20140919_110318_zpshfgtkuzr.jpg” alt=”” />

The total retail value of this month’s box is $95.95…for which I paid $21. The best part is, not only is it a bargain, these are products I will most definitely use. Again, Boxycharm, how I *heart* thee. It’s the best $21 per month gift I’ve ever blessed myself with. If I could only choose one box out of my numerous subscriptions, Boxycharm would be the winner hands down.

Birchbox September 2014 Unboxing: Lovely Outside and Inside!

Published September 20, 2014 by thebeholdingeye

Okay, on to the second unboxing of the day at Casa Beholding Eye. This is my monthly Birchbox subscription. I enjoy Birchbox. The samples are usually very generous in size, and I’ve actually gotten a few samples that impressed me so much that I actually bought the full-size versions from the Birchbox store. Birchbox has an amazing points system where you accrue points by reviewing products you’ve received and for referring new subscribers. Unlike some other subscription boxes, these points add up very quickly and are redeemable as credit towards items in the Birchbox Shop or to redeem towards specialty boxes that are released. Birchbox is a box I can recommend without hesitation. It’s a mix of beauty products from hair care, skincare, and makeup, and I think I’ve only ever gotten a couple of things that I just didn’t care for at all (see last month’s review and the zombie-apocalypse-worthy Neil George hair products…Oy!). Also, recently Birchbox has started letting subscribers actually choose their own sample from a pretty impressive assortment of products. Last month I was able to score a full-size Laura Geller cream eyeshadow to be included in my box (which sort of made up for the pungent Neil George products and had a retail value that was about double the cost of the entire box).

Anyway, let’s dive into this month’s box…and speaking of the box, it was gorgeous this month. The great thing about the Birchbox boxes is that they are very sturdy, come with ample pretty tissue paper, and can be reused for a multitude of things. I reuse mine to separate and store my costume jewelry (earrings in one box, necklaces in another, bracelets in another, etc.). Great added bonus of repurposing with each and every box. Here’s my September box and its contents this month:

<img src=" photo 20140919_111458_zpsfsboifab.jpg” alt=”” />

Pretty impressive at first glance, Birchbox…And not a Neil George product in sight so my nose is in the clear! Okay, now let’s inspect the treasures a little more closely.

<img src="Birchbox September 2014 photo 20140919_111535_zpspucav2cg.jpg” alt=”” />

First up we have this SUPER generous-sized sample of Macadamia Natural Oil cleansing conditioner. I’ve tried a few cleansing conditioners in the past and, while I appreciate this is probably a very good line and probably an excellent product, I think I’ll be using this as one of the items in next month’s GIVEAWAY (stay tuned for more details and sneak peeks about that event!).

<img src="Birchbox September 2014 photo 20140919_111554_zpsduc5rmbh.jpg” alt=”” />

Next up is this small tube of Temptu highlighter in Champagne. It’s a gorgeous warm color, yet very subtle. A little goes a long way with this product and it will definitely come in handy for a little added twinkle during holiday festivities, which are just around the corner now.

<img src="Birchbox September 2014 photo 20140919_111607_zpst0r2elws.jpg” alt=”” />

Here’s a product I’m looking forward to trying. I love new skincare products and this one seems to be from a really good line. By Vasanti, it’s called Brighten Up Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator and appears to be full of awesome goodness. This sample is also generous enough to decide if it’s a product I’d like to incorporate into my regimen and snag a full-sized tube.

<img src="Birchbox September 2014 photo 20140919_111619_zpseqf8jlnu.jpg” alt=”” />

From Harvey Prince, this is the Ageless Liquid Loofah and it smells unbelievably delicious. It’s a body wash chock full of anti-aging exfoliating ingredients and I’m definitely going to use this today. Considering it only takes a quarter-sized dollop per use, this sample should last for about 6 showers, enough to decide if I’d like to purchase the full-sized product. Again, this smells absolutely delish!

<img src="Birchbox September 2014 photo 20140919_111639_zpsffxprbzc.jpg” alt=”” />

Next up is a Pixi product. Pixi is much-loved brand usually found at Target. It’s a tad more spendy than other drugstore cosmetics but I find they’re usually well worth the price. This is no exception. This balm, in Honey Nectar, is the perfect shade for me (one I definitely would have chosen myself in the store) and feels like butter on the lips. Soft, moisturizing, and pigment payoff, too. And full-sized. I’m always delighted to get any Pixi products in my subscription boxes, so this was my home run from this month’s Birchbox. This particular Pixi product retails for about $8, so just this one amazing product has justified the $10/month that I spend on Birchbox.

Here’s the descriptor card for the retail prices of full-sized versions of these amazing products:

As with Ipsy, Birchbox is $10 per month and can be cancelled at any time (although I doubt you’ll want to cancel once you get your first box). Ipsy September 2014 Unboxing: Goodbye, Lilliputian and Hello, Full-Sized Products plus GIVEAWAY!

Published September 20, 2014 by thebeholdingeye

Well, after the lackluster August Ipsy bag which contained samples so small they probably should have been labeled as a choking hazard, Ipsy was back in full swing (and full size!) this month. A lot of subscription boxes seemed to be running behind this month but with the arrival of Ipsy, Birchbox, and the much-anticipated BoxyCharm on the same day, it’s Christmas in September here at Casa Beholding Eye.

Let’s tear into that pretty pink mailer and see what’s in the bag this month.

First of all, let’s actually talk about the bag this month. A-mazing. Really cute, pleather, metallic gunmetal gray with studs…Okay, Ipsy, this one is actually cute enough where it will actually make it’s way into my bag instead of being used for organization in my cosmetics closet. Really, really cute. The lighting isn’t great in this picture but here it is, along with this month’s Street Style card:

<img src=" photo 20140919_112830_zpsnqwgxlqu.jpg” alt=”” />

And here are all of the contents. I’m already impressed, especially after last month.

<img src=" photo 20140919_113113_zpskgynwpqk.jpg” alt=”” />

Now let’s take a look at these one at a time. First off is an absolutely gorgeous FULL-SIZED nail polish by Pacifica in a shade called Red, Red Wine. It’s a really deep red shade that is going to perfect for Fall and Winter. Also, totally vegan and cruelty-free…BONUS POINTS! This is definitely going to be used a lot in the upcoming months:

<img src="Ipsy September 2014 photo 20140919_113228_zpsfq9itoc9.jpg” alt=”” />

And going perfectly with the nail polish, next up is a FULL-SIZED lipstick by Hikari in Cabernet. Like the nail polish by Pacifica, this lipstick is the perfect deep red for Fall and Winter. Knockin’ it outta the park so far, Ipsy!

<img src=" photo 20140919_113355_zpsi94eczcf.jpg” alt=”” />

Next up is a very generous sample size of Mitchell and Peach hand cream. I’m still working on a couple of other hand creams from other subscription boxes, but this should be a nice one to add to my repertoire, especially with the drying months ahead.

<img src="Ipsy September 2014 photo 20140919_113138_zpsbcoo1pkh.jpg” alt=”” />

The fourth item to make its way into my greedy yet well-manicured little paws is this very generous sample size of Nourish Organic cream facial cleanser. All organic, this is a very welcome addition to my cache of skincare items. Made with cucumber and watercress, I’m hoping it has a really fresh scent and cleans without stripping any natural oils. Still on a roll, Ipsy, no eye rolls like I had with the August bag!

<img src="Ipsy September 2014 photo 20140919_113153_zpskcon550s.jpg” alt=”” />

And the last item in this month’s bag is by Be A Bombshell “Smooth Criminal” HD finishing powder. I haven’t tried the Be a Bombshell brand before, but considering the small amount of finishing powder required for each use, this generous size should last me awhile.

<img src="Ipsy September 2014 photo 20140919_113539_zpskkfrqg26.jpg” alt=”” />

So there we have it…Ipsy’s redemption for last month’s aesthetically disappointing bag filled with munchkin-sized products. While I admittedly was on the verge of cancelling my subscription after the August bag, this September bag has really impressed me.

At only $10 a month, this month’s bag brought 2 FULL-SIZED products and 3 extremely generous SAMPLE-SIZED products, all of which I will definitely use. Now that, my sister beauty fanatics, is what I call a deal. Treat yourself to a little Ipsy every month…you can customize your profile to help ensure you get products you’ll love and, on the off chance you find you don’t love getting that shiny pink shipping envelope in your mailbox every month, you can cancel at any time. What have you got to lose?

If you’d like to sign up for Ipsy, here are the links to their website with my referral code and to their Facebook page:

Lip Monthly September 2014 Unboxing: Yes, 5 Products for $10/month

Published September 17, 2014 by thebeholdingeye

Well, while a lot of my subscription box shipments seem to be hostages of the infamous DHL Global Mail, Lip Monthly has arrived on time. Let’s see what they’ve put together for us this month.

Here are the bag and its contents:

<img src="September Bag and Contents photo 20140917_083634_zpsf298ef78.jpg” alt=”” />

Once again, that adorable little monogrammed bag holds all sorts of interesting products. Let’s start with the one that caught my eye first, that nail polish:

<img src="Julie Nail Color photo 20140917_083220_zpsd78cc67b.jpg” alt=”” />

By “Julie,” I couldn’t find the name of the shade but it’s a gorgeous coral/salmon color that’s perfect for the last few weeks of summer. I’d never heard of this brand but it’s a shade I’ll definitely use over the next couple of weeks as summer finally (mercifully) turns into fall.

<img src="Purlisse 0.5 Ounces photo 20140917_083242_zps44a0ac28.jpg” alt=”” />

Next is yet another sample size of the bane of most beauty box subscribers existence this summer, Purlisse sunblock. Don’t get me wrong. Purlisse is an amazing brand and is very spendy, but once you’ve received 3 sample-size and 2 full-size products over a 3-month period, well…the less I see of Purlisse from this point forward, the better. I’ll be using this one in a giveaway so stay tuned!

<img src="Cherimoya Lip Crayon photo 77b88892-08cd-4ef4-8bab-702ebc35050e_zps865165a9.jpg” alt=”” />

Here we have a lip crayon by Cherimoya in the color “Fig.” Really gorgeous color, applies matte but not drying on the lips, and is a shade that will work through the rest of summer and into early fall.

<img src="Latte Lip Pencil photo 20140917_083521_zps827818d3.jpg” alt=”” />

Also by Cherimoya, here is a liner for lips or eyes in the color “Latte.” While too pale to use around my eyes, it’s a gorgeous color that I’ll definitely be using as a lip liner. I love a nude lip, and this pencil will a great addition to my lip arsenal.

<img src="Eco Lips Kiwi Strawberry Balm photo 20140917_083306_zps75147243.jpg” alt=”” />

And rounding out this month’s bag is this strawberry-kiwi lip balm by Eco Lips. I go through lip balms like a maniac all year round, so lip balms are always a welcome addition to any of my subscriptions.

<img src="http://September Descriptor Card photo 8128b8d9-070c-4e13-b9b5-e69fa852e93a_zps912ebe97.jpg” alt=”” />

And as you can see, the approximate retail value of this month’s Lip Monthly bag is $37, which you get for $10 (including shipping!) with your Lip Monthly subscription.

I really look forward to my Lip Monthly bags. The products are always extremely wearable and fun at the same time. I hear next month’s bag will contain 4 lip products, 1 mix-up product, and be very fall-friendly. I’m looking forward to that bag…as well as the 30-degree drop in daytime temperatures here in central California.

If you’d like to check out Lip Monthly for yourself, here are links to the website and to their Facebook page. For $10/month, I’m finding it’s quite a deal!

BH Cosmetics Makeup Brush Set Pictures and Review

Published September 13, 2014 by thebeholdingeye

Well, having brushes strewn about in various places by various makers, I finally decided to indulge in a reasonably-priced set of makeup brushes that actually matched and had their own storage area.

I’d been hearing pretty favorable reviews about BH Cosmetics, not only about their cosmetics in general, but in particular about their brush sets. Now, I don’t mind paying top dollar for high-end products but if I can find a reasonable substitution for a high-end product at a fraction of the price, I’m all over that deal. It frees up money to spend on other things…Like more makeup or another subscription box or SHOES.

After perusing the BH Cosmetics site and finding a number of really impressive sales, I decided to go with the 24-Piece Burgundy Brush Set which was rated 4.3 out of 5 possible stars by reviewers, as well as a lip gloss and lipstick to check out the quality of those as well.

Shipping was very fast. I ordered these on Tuesday night and they arrived bright and early Saturday morning.

Here is what the case (brushes contained inside) looked like out of the bag:

<img src=" photo 20140913_121105_zps12c12216.jpg” alt=”” />

This baby is BIG. It’s much larger than I was anticipating (dimensions weren’t given that I saw on the BH Cosmetics website). It’s aesthetically pleasing and looks like a nice alligator skin clutch that one could carry for an evening out.

I was also really impressed with the closure/clasp on this clutch, too. Really a pretty and classy touch with the gold closure and the logo:

<img src=" photo 20140913_121115_zpsfbaaba41.jpg” alt=”” />

Now for what’s inside the lovely clutch, the brushes themselves. Here are a few random shots of the various brushes. They range from a huge fan brush to a foundation brush to various eye lining and shadow brushes to a mascara wand to a lash/brow grooming brush. If you need any type of brush, I’d say you’re probably going to find it in this kit.

<img src=" photo 20140913_121242_zps26b607d5.jpg” alt=”” />

<img src=" photo 20140913_121249_zpse80a5e03.jpg” alt=”” />

<img src="http:// photo 20140913_121253_zpsa4c23b67.jpg” alt=”” />

<img src="http:// photo 20140913_121200_zpsdde7fbc5.jpg” alt=”” />

Beautiful presentation, the brushes that should be soft feel very soft, the stiff brushes feel stiff enough to do the job, and overall I’m a very happy camper with this set. Full disclosure: I haven’t used them with makeup yet (hey, it’s Saturday, I overslept, and I’ve only had one cup of coffee so far) but have done the “touch” test and feel these are very comparable to the quality of Eco Tools or ELF Studio.

PROS: Great price, seem to be of high-average quality, fast shipment; also, note that BH Cosmetics always has specials and promo codes and coupon codes and their website is tons of fun what with their vast array of palettes and sets.
CONS: Ye gads, this poor set smells like chemical warfare gone bad. It’s going to need to be aired out for awhile after being trapped in that plastic in which it was wrapped. I realize the clutch is faux and not real leather but the scent is a bit overpowering. I’ve left it out unfolded so air can circulate to it. That, however, is the ONLY con I’ve found about this set and, hey, for this price, I don’t mind airing it out for a couple of days. It’s not like I was putting on makeup today anyway so I’m good with that.

And here are the lipstick (“Toasted”) and lip gloss (“Office Queen”, love the name AND the color) to which I treated myself when I ordered the brushes. Both go on smooth, have great pigment, and coupled together are my PERFECT nude lip. The “Toasted” is much more tan than pink, the lighting in the picture is a bit deceptive. Well done, BH Cosmetics!

<img src=" photo 20140913_121902_zps2695ede7.jpg” alt=”” />

<img src=" photo 20140913_121926_zpsf7d83f23.jpg” alt=”” />

All in all, I was out about $25 for the amazing brush set, the lipstick, and the lip gloss. As I said, BH Cosmetics can be found on Facebook (links to their FB page and website below), and ALWAYS have special deals going. I even saw the set I ordered on for $16 or so a week or so before I got around to ordering it. I intend to order more products from BH Cosmetics in the future and hope that I’m as pleased with all of their products as I am these 3.
